The first "Fieldday"

Last weekend we went into the field for our first /p operation.
It was a nice Saturday afternoon and I went together with Tjakko PA2TA and Peter PD1AJJ to a field very close to my home.

Peter took his Yaesu FT-817 and 12AVQ vertical and was QRV within a few minutes. He made the first QSO with one call immediately after switching on the rig.
He also had a very nice QSO with a Dutch guy living in SM-land.

Tjakko came a little later and needed some time for getting his antenna mount back on the lit of the car with good grounding. Anyway, his mono band mobile whips works great together with the Yaesu FT450.

Shack in the backShack in the backI needed most time to get all up in the air. That was because I wanted to use the mast I tested a few weeks ago together with my new 10m-80m windom antenna. I used only one mast so the windom was hanging as an inverted-V. After connecting my Yaesu FT-817 I turned the bands to test the antenna's SWR. 1:1 on all bands! Only on 20m a bit higher. I made just one QSO. Thanks Bryan F1VLZ for the nice QSO!

Well, the windom works great but it takes some time to setup. So for short-time field operations I gonna stick with my Outback 1899 ;-)

Peter was also making some video-shots and put that together with some pictures. He made a nice short video from our field experiment:
